Ludhiana: AIG of the Vigilance flying squad has asked the Vigilance Bureau to conduct an inquiry into the allegation of a senior RTO official taking bribes from owners of private commercial vehicles through private persons. The complainant alleged that private persons were collecting money from owners of commercial vehicles plying on roads in an unauthorised manner on behalf of a senior official.
The complainant, Nitin Kumar, a resident of Sherpur, alleged that sleeper buses violating norms of load, height and weight were plying on roads and no action was being taken against them as bribes were being taken from owners of such vehicles using private persons.
AIG, flying squad, Vigilance has marked a complaint to the Vigilance Bureau.
“Private sleeper buses are departing from Sherpur Chowk, Dholewal Chowk, Jamalpur Chowk and other places near the bus stand. These buses ply to other states like Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir and even Nepal. They do not have any permit to carry passengers and ply on roads. The buses are resulting in revenue loss to the state exchequer. Besides, overloaded and excessively tall tippers are also plying on roads,” said Nitin.
